The month of October is dedicated to preventing breast cancer , which affects one in ten women and threatens 4,500 Greek women each year. Despite its frequency , the disease is treated today , enough to be diagnosed early. The most powerful « weapon » for the early diagnosis is awareness . If the cancer is diagnosed fairly quickly , before it spreads to other organs, the five-year survival rate of women with breast cancer exceeds 95 %. in Greece , the diagnosis of breast cancer is usually when the disease is well advanced .
